CENABIO students are among the 25 finalists for the Wellcome Image Award

The Coordination of the Graduate Program in Bioimaging and Biostructures is delighted to announce excellent news. Our students, Vânia Vieira and Jander Guimarães, advised by Professor Kildare Rocha de Miranda, are among the 25 finalists for the Wellcome Image Award!

The award selects the most impactful images representing global health challenges. These will be exhibited to the public at the renowned Watson and Crick Institute in London from July 17th to October 18th. Next week, both will be at the institute to receive the award.

The Coordination congratulates Vânia, Jander, and Kildare on this remarkable achievement, which enhances the reputation of our program and the institution. This international recognition highlights the quality and impact of the work developed by the student and faculty researchers in our program. We would also like to congratulate Dr. Ingrid Augusto, recently appointed to the UFRJ and co-author of Vânia’s award-winning image.

The images from Submarine Fever (Jander Matos and Joaquim Nascimento) and Ice and Fire Chronicles (Ingrid Augusto, Kildare Rocha de Miranda, and Vania da Silva Vieira) can be seen below.
